FAQs

  • NGOs must apply to be eligible. (See the NGO Application page.) Eligible NGOs that are present at the meeting are placed “in the hat.” We draw three names from the hat and a representative of each of the three has five minutes to give a presentation about what the organization does and how they would use the funds if they win the grant. We allow two minutes for questions. No testimonials or endorsements from the audience are permitted, only questions for clarification. Then, every person who donated $1,000 pesos or more votes. The winning NGO receives all the money collected that evening.

  • No. A winning NGO must wait three years before being placed in the hat again.

  • Once you join, we strongly encourage you to donate every time, four times a year, even if you cannot attend a meeting. You may give your donation to a friend who is attending or, we have two secure drop-off locations where you can leave your donation at any time.

Put your donation in a sealed envelope. Address it to “100 Women Who Care.” Put your name(s) on the envelope.

LEAVE THE ENVELOPE AT EITHER DROP OFF LOCATION:

    • Yellow Boutique Clothing Store in the Hacienda Aurora, Calzada de la Aurora 48-A

    • La Conexion at Plaza Luna, Ancha de San Antonio #39-loc 2

  • Yes! You may prepare four separate sealed envelopes with the meeting date clearly printed on the envelope, along with your name.  Bring all the envelopes to any meeting or either of our two secure drop-off locations. We will happily save each envelope for the appropriate meeting.

  • Because we are determined to keep our giving simple and without bureaucratic infrastructure, we are not able to open a bank account or a PayPal account. We can accept only cash donations.

  • Yes, you can, but the goal of 100 Women Who Care is to gather a large donation the winning NGO can put to significant use. We aim for a total donation of at least $100,000 pesos at each meeting, and as part of the group, your individual gift will have a far greater impact than it would alone.

  • Absolutely! If you are able, we strongly encourage you to donate $2,000 pesos each time, knowing your contribution will be assisting a hard-working NGO that is improving the quality of life for our San Miguel community.

OR, please consider tucking an extra $100- or $200-pesos bill in with your $1,000 pesos.

    Larger contributions are greatly appreciated!

  • Thank you for your interest! Since our meetings are often 100 people or more, you will achieve great visibility and be aligning your business with a popular San Miguel organization. You may:

    • Donate a percentage of your profits or a set donation that you determine at each meeting. We will publicly thank you each time. You may devise a clever way to collect your 100 Women Who Care donations that also lets your customers know how you support us.

    • You may donate an item for us to raffle off. We hold a raffle for a beautiful item of some value at each meeting.

    • For further information, contact us at the email address below.

  • We encourage you to bring a friend or many friends or visitors. A new person may simply observe or may join at any meeting. If your friends are visiting San Miguel and do not live here, they are welcome to make a one-time contribution. If the contribution is $1,000 pesos or more, the visitor will receive a ballot and may vote.
